About the Course
This course shall take a look at the most important facets of manhood according to Prophetic guidance—as a husband, a father, at home, at work and within greater society.
Marriages and family relationships are often challenging in our times as we deal with competing notions of gender roles and modern vs. traditional values: What is the right attitude to have? Whose advice should we follow? How much toughness or vulnerability should we show? How do we strike a balance between being a son and being a husband during family conflicts? What should be our guiding values in every situation? The example and guidance of our Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, and the righteous may seem like a distant reality, disconnected from our own.
Through exploring the Prophetic paradigm of manhood with practical examples and real-life scenarios, this course aims to bridge that gap, and show us how to act with ihsan in every situation.
The purpose of this course is to reconnect men with right guidance on how to be men. The course shall explore the foundational character traits exemplified by our Prophet, that serve as guiding lights for manhood in every situation: responsibility, leadership, integrity, courage, chivalry, compassion, gentleness, noble character, and love for the Divine.
NB. The course is open to both men and women.
The course shall be taught over 5 weeks, covering five defining areas for Manhood:
- As a Husband
- As a Father
- At Home
- At Work
- Within Greater Society
The course shall meet for Live Sessions once a week. Students shall have pre-recorded lessons and reading material that they must cover before attending the live class.
No background is necessary: everyone is welcome! The course is open to both men and women.
Money & Career, Fitness & Sports Culture, Dress & Grooming, Gadgets, The Opposite Sex…
The list goes on and on. Modern notions of manhood encourage us to pursue external ideals and the values of a society that is no longer anchored to eternal verities.
The pursuit of these ideals consumes most adolescents, even grown men, and serves as an incredible deterrent to inward focus, character growth, and self-development. Many never end up finding true direction in their lives.
What shall I learn in this course?
Have you ever been in a new situation where you were not sure how you were called upon to act? Did you ever wish you could have a living example, a person to emulate directly?
The main focus of this course shall be on right guidance from the Prophetic example, how to act appropriately as a man given what has been revealed to us about the reality of this life and the next.
The Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him told us, “Every one of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock.” We shall certainly be called to account for our responsibilities. Having the right direction is imperative.
How can we be strong men who lead with wisdom, and not by dominance? How do we assert authority with compassion and empathy? How do we be generous and open-handed when called upon to spend? How do we give everybody their rights?
