And the only way we can do this is through learning about his life. The Rise of the Ummah is the second of a pair of courses that will bring the Sirah to life, illustrating the life of the Prophet, peace and blessings upon him, in a detailed, historical and chronological manner. Part 2 looks at the Madinan period of the Prophet’s life.
The content of the course will not only include a detailed look at the Prophet’s life, but will also involve reflection on the meaning of the events in his life and how every aspect of his life is full of lessons for us. This will enable you to establish a connection with him, peace and blessings be upon him, so that you are better able to
take him as your model in everything that you do.
Based on material taken from Al-Shifa by Qadi Iyad, Muhammad by Martin Lings, Al-Sirah al-Halabiyah by Imam Ali Burhan al-Din al-Halabi, An Approach to the Quranic Sciences by Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, The Sealed Nectar, and others, this course is for everyone—the young and the old, the new and the life-long Muslim. For those new, the course will give you a full picture of the Sirah; and for those "old", it is a reminder and a refresher with the addition of analysis and reflection.
By the end of this course, you will have learned the detailed chronological history of the Prophet’s life while focusing on the Madinan period as being distinct from the Makkan period. You will be able to identify and explain the major milestones of the Madinan period and discuss their significance. You will also understand the significance of the Madinan period as a whole in the Prophet’s life, peace and blessings be upon him.
