It is often said that Islam is a comprehensive way of life. “Higher Health: The Prophetic Medicines” shows the application of this through hadiths of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) to measures he taught us to lead a strong and well life, avoid debility and illness, and maximize our happiness in this world and the next.
Imam Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti’s Prophetic Medicine will be used as the main text. This text consists of prophetic hadiths, Quranic verses, other Islamic sources, and explanations. Students will be given an electronic copy of the original Arabic text for the selections used in class, which will then be translated and explained by Sheikh Nuh orally.
This intensive course is five weeks and will compose of the following lessons:
1. One’s Maker
2. Activity and Recovery
3. Intake and Fasting
4. Taking Care Inwardly and Outwardly
5. Relations and Relaxing
Sheikh Nuh will teach this course live. Students can submit questions during the class through the chat box, which Sheikh Nuh will answer at the end of each class. Throughout the week, our content experts will lead discussion forums and answer questions outside of class. Our content experts are Dr. Saquib Lakhani (medicine) and Ustadh Farid Dingle (hadith).
All live sessions are recorded and available for the duration of the semester. Also, a written summary of each lesson will be provided to all students.
