Ustadha Sawsan Mostafa was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. She acquired a BS in Political Science from Cairo University. She started her Shari’a studies in 2003 at the famous Dar-al Hosary Qur’an Institute in Cairo and later studied Shafi’i fiqh, Tajweed and other Islamic sciences with Shaykhs in Egypt and Jordan. Ustadha Sawsan received her Ijaza in Tajweed in the narration of Hafs ‘an ‘Asim with Shaykh Sulayman Van Ael. She has several years of experience teaching Tajweed, as well as Arabic, to non-Arabic speakers. She’s currently focusing on studying Qur’anic recitations and Hanafi fiqh. Ustadha Sawsan currently lives with her husband in Alexandria.
