Ustadh Aminudin Abd Majid has resided in Australia for the past 16 years. Born and raised in Singapore, he relocated to Sydney in 1997 to pursue undergraduate studies after having served two and a half years in the Police Force. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Media studies from Macquarie University in 2000.
He embarked on a journey to study Arabic and seek traditional Islamic knowledge in 2004 to Amman, Jordan where he lived for the following two years. Upon completing the entire classical Arabic program at Qasid Institute he furthered his studies under the tutelage of Sheikh Ali Hani as well as attending other lessons in Jordan. During his time there, he also benefitted from the teachings of Sheikh Nuh Keller, Sheikh Ashraf Muneeb, Sheikh Ahmad Snobar, Sheikh Sohail Hanif, Sheikh Amienoellah Abderoef, Sheikh Salah al-Kurdi and Ustadh Khaled Abu Amsha.
Upon his return to Australia in 2006, Ustadh Aminudin was asked to teach year-long Arabic programs at two Islamic institutions in Sydney, where he taught the entire al-Ajrumiyyah text. He currently works as a parole officer in a maximum-security prison and resides with his wife and three children in Sydney.
