Student Life

You may be thinking: “I’ve never traveled abroad to study, let alone to the Middle East. How do I know what to expect? What’s it going to be like?”

Fear not, this section will tell you what to expect during your stay in Amman. If you have additional questions, we are here to help!

The Campus

Qibla is situated in Amman’s neighborhood of Sports City, where you will find a bustling community of Western Muslims living alongside native Jordanians.

Course are taught in a dedicated portion of the recently-built Qibla headquarters, meaning that our staff is always at hand to aid you in your studies should any questions or administrative issues arise. Class sizes are small and focused so that you can draw as much knowledge from scholars as possible.

Classrooms are all named after historical figures and are fitted with whiteboards and the latest technology to enhance your learning experience. Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the campus.

Health & Safety

Jordan is by large the safest and most stable country in the region: politically, economically, and socially. Amman is a bustling city which has experienced much growth in recent years, while still remaining small enough to easily navigate around. It has the best of both worlds—the comforts and facilities used in the West, alongside a very rich and deeply rooted Arab and Islamic heritage. The Jordanian people themselves are very warm and welcoming, with most people being of traditional Bedouin heritage or Palestinian-Jordanian.

Jordan is regarded to be the capital of healthcare in the Middle East. It is held in high esteem by many across the world and within the region, and Gulf nationals travel to Jordan to make use of its excellent and inexpensive healthcare. Many of the country’s medical staff and doctors are bilingual. Nearly all prescription drugs are available in Amman should one require them.

Housing & Dining

Having found the right time and place to embark on your religious journey, the last thing you want to waste your time and energy on is searching around for a place to stay. To assist you with this, we offer housing arrangements. This service is entirely optional and you are more than welcome to look for a place on your own, however most students choose to go this route out of convenience.

You can choose to either have your own room or share with a roommate. Housing arrangements vary between the summer months and the rest of the year, and full details can be found in the information pack. Apartment exclusively for yourself or for your family only is available upon registration.

Housing is a furnished apartment that includes a kitchen, Internet, and a building caretaker.  Utilities other than the Internet are not included. These costs will depend on usage but average around 15-25 USD per student, per month.

If you need information about family housing, please contact us and we will provide you with the necessary information to accommodate your needs.

Extracurricular Activities

Many extracurricular activities can be found within the neighborhood, including Brazilian Jujitsu lessons, fitness classes, basketball and soccer games, singing, hiking, picnics, and community meals. Plus, if you have some free time between classes you can always stop by the Qibla office and play table tennis with your classmates.

Students Say

My experience with these two courses was extremely positive both in terms of ease of access and the knowledge gained. The teachers demonstrated complete mastery of their subjects, the TAs were very helpful in providing links to additional related information from the Qibla database, and the methodology of listening to pre-recorded lessons followed by live question & answer sessions is a very effective learning methodology.
