Vision, Mission & Values

Our Mission

Qibla’s purpose is to teach people the direction to turn to their
Maker. Just as the physical direction of the qibla unites all who pray
towards Mecca five times a day, Qibla exists to unite all who seek the
Divine, who told His prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him
peace): “Say, If all of you love Allah, then wholeheartedly follow me,
and Allah will love you” (Qur’an 3:31). Qibla’s aim is to shed the
light of highest Islamic scholarship on every point of modern life,
from the individual, profession, family, and community, to the entire
world. Our course-work stands firmly on the classic corpus of the most
authoritative scholars of traditional Islam, and teaches students the
practical attainment of the true knowledge, godfearingness, and love
of Allah that lie at the heart of His final revelation.

Our Vision

We envision that personal change based on contextualized religious
knowledge will add meaning and purpose to Muslims’ personal, family,
community, and professional lives. This will guide them to responsibly
and effectively use the opportunities that lie before them to serve
Allah and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him. We believe
that this is the path that leads to bringing a renewal of Islam in the
modern age and we hope that Allah blesses our work with His acceptance
and tawfiq.

Our Values

Our teaching is guided by:

  1. absolute conviction in the truth of the message of the Prophet
Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace),
  2. strong emphasis on the centrality of divine revelation as
    direction for all human activity,
  3. uncompromising adherence to conclusions of the imams of the field
in every Islamic science, whether sacred law, theology, legal theory,
    or other,
  4. an imperative to communicate the prophetic message in a language
    that people understand today, and
  5. an imperative to address the religious problems that they face today.
