A native of Guyana with a mixed ancestral heritage, Ustadh Qays Arthur's commitment to education began in his country where after preliminary studies there and in the Middle East, he taught in mosques across the country, directed education programs, and worked with various interfaith and non-governmental organizations. Leaving to pursue more intensive study overseas, Ustadh Qays now brings his knowledge, passion, and sincerity to the courses he teaches for Qibla. Concurrently, he regularly attends classes of Fiqh, Aqidah, and Arabic in Amman, where he lives with his family.

• Director of Education and Daw'ah & Teacher with Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG) 2004 to 2007 where he worked with Shaykh Moeenul Hack, and Shaykh Faisal Abdur Razak to reorganize the CIOG's education program along the lines of “Islam, Iman, Ihsan,” as well as taught Taharah, Salah, Sawm, Zakat and Hajj, and Aqidah from Nur-al-Idah,Tahawiya and other texts at CIOG headquarters as well as at Mosques throughout the country.
• Served as a khatib at the Queenstown Jama Mosque, East Georgetown Sunnatul Mosque, and others.

• Since learning Arabic in the late nineties, in Saudi Arabia and Jordan, Qays has studied several texts including Al-Aqidah al-Tahawiya, Al-Kharidatul Bahiya and Sharh Jawharatu al-Tawhid, in Aqidah; Sharh of the Isagouj in Mantiq, and Nur-al-Idah, Tuhfatul Muluk, Al-Madkhal ila al Fiqh al Islami, and Al-Kitab, in Fiqh. His teachers include Shaykh Faisal Abdur Razak (Guyana/Toronto), Dr. Salah Abul Haj (Amman), Shaykh Hamza Karamali (Amman/Kuwait), Shaykh Hamza al-Bakri (Amman), Dr. Ahmad al Hassanat (Amman), Dr. Ashraf Muneeb (Amman), and Shaykh Ahmad al-Jammal (Amman).
